Birthday

A birthday surprise for your girlfriend, in one link

A text says happy birthday. A page shows that you sat down and made something. She opens your link and finds a cake with her name on it, candles she can really blow out, the photos you picked and the words you wrote for her.

Free. No ads. They need no app and no account to open it.

What she sees when she opens it

  • Her name and her photo, with balloons drifting past.
  • A 3D cake with lit candles. She blows on her phone and they go out, one by one. A tap works too, if she would rather not use the microphone.
  • Confetti, and the line you chose for the moment the last candle goes out.
  • Your letter, in handwriting, on a sheet of paper.
  • A wall of polaroids with your favourite photos of her, or of the two of you.
  • Your song, if you add one.

Make it land at midnight

You can finish the page days before and schedule it to open at 12:00 on her birthday. Send the link early. Until then it shows a countdown and nothing else, so the wait becomes part of the surprise.

If the page is only for her, add a PIN. Tell her the PIN in person, or hide it in a card.

Ideas for what to write

  • The first thing you noticed about her.
  • A small moment from this year that she probably thinks you forgot.
  • Something she does without knowing it, and why you love it.
  • One thing you want to do together before her next birthday.
  • A plain thank you, for something specific.

How to make it

  • Open the Birthday Cake template and sign in with Google.
  • Type her name, your message and the age she is turning.
  • Add a main photo and up to six polaroids. You crop each one as you add it.
  • Publish, then send her the link or print the QR code on her card.

Questions

Does she need an app or an account to open it?

No. She taps the link and it opens in her phone’s browser. Only you sign in, so that you can edit the page later.

Can I change the page after I send the link?

Yes. Edit it at any time and the same link shows the new version.

How long does the page stay online?

For 7 days after it opens. Then the page, its photos and its music are deleted for good. You see the exact date before you publish.
